1862年，南京西路的前身“静安寺路”(Bubbling Well Road)因连接跑马厅与静安寺古井“涌泉”而建，最初仅为马车通行的小道。1862年由跑马道“静安寺路”蜕变为商街，静安寺“浴佛节”庙会催生早期市集，20世纪30年代汇聚大光明影院、百乐门舞厅、鸿翔时装(中国首家西式女装店)等475家名店，奠定上海西区顶级商圈根基。
In 1862, its predecessor “Bubbling Well Road” was built to connect the Shanghai Racecourse to the ancient “bubbling well” at Jing’an Temple. Initially just a narrow carriage path, it transformed into a bustling commercial street thanks to the temple’s “Buddha Bathing Festival”. By the 1930s, it was home to 475 landmark venues, from the Grand Theatre and Paramount Ballroom to Hongxiang Fashion—the first Western-style women’s clothing store in China—cementing its status as Shanghai’s premier shopping area in the west of the city.
而“路易号”巨轮的设计灵感，正来自19世纪的航海传奇——当时路易威登为越洋旅行者制作坚固行李箱，保护他们的珍宝远渡重洋。如今这艘“船”停靠南京西路，就像一场跨越时空的致敬！
The design of the Louis vessel pays homage to the maritime legends of the 19th century—when Louis Vuitton crafted durable trunks for ocean travelers to protect their treasures on long voyages. Today, this “ship” on West Nanjing Road is like a time-traveling tribute.

Just 300 meters east of Louis, you’ll stumble upon a red-brick “castle” called Zhang Yuan. Built in 1882, it was once hailed as “Shanghai’s No. 1 Garden” and boasted the city’s first electric lights, roller coaster, and photo studio.
除此之外，张园还是上海“文明结婚”的发源地，是霍元甲勇斗大力士的比武台，是孙中山来沪演讲的大讲堂。
